Donald Trump has the distinction of being the first challenger to our political ruling class in my lifetime. This ruling class is not strictly party-related. It comprises a broad array of Democrats (almost all of them), Republicans (a significant number of them), the media (the propaganda ministry), and bureaucrats (those faceless government employees who formed the "resistance" against the will of the people).
The Donald challenged their power, and now they're exacting their revenge. Whether fairly or fraudulently, he's been defeated for re-election, but that's not enough. Now his legacy must be destroyed and his supporters crushed. The ruling class is determined to ensure that no form of Trumpism or any challenge to their authority ever rises again.
Ancient mythology holds that conquering armies would salt the earth of beaten civilizations. This salting was a curse to forestall any future re-habitation. It was meant to ensure that a beaten civilization would never again challenge the victor. The beaten were to stay beaten.
We've reached the "salt the earth" stage of the ruling class's victory over the Trump movement. Democrats are demanding that President Trump be removed from office, via impeachment or the 25th Amendment — just two weeks before the end of his term. Twitter has banned him for life. Representative Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) has even submitted legislation to prohibit federal buildings from ever being named after Donald Trump. It's not enough that he was defeated for re-election; he must also be humiliated.

If you assume Manchin is all about Manchin, then you must also assume he understands that to ally himself with the most extreme members of the Democratic Party undermines his ability to appeal to the centrists he’d need to win a national election.
So you think that voters should vote on substance, and not on how sharp the candidate's trouser crease's are, or how snarky the candidate's Tweets are?

But many millions of voters do not. And throwing away their votes for whatever trivial, and fleeting, satisfaction Trump gets from insulting others was not wise.

OK. I do not disagree. But he needed to get it under control to win in 2020. It is a humiliation for him, and a disaster for the Nation, that Trump did not learn anything about Greek Tragedy at Fordham. If the concepts 'hubris' and 'nemesis' had been running through his thoughts the last four years, he would be preparing to for his second inauguration.

I know people that know him. I work with someone who was once the treasurer on one of his past senate campaigns. They say he will not switch parties. The members of the “Manchin machine” as such as you can say it exists is Rat and will remain Rat until the day they die. Even though the national party that they insist on being a member of is undermining the very culture & society they exist in. They’re making too much money scratching inch others backsides here in the state to change. They figure by the time national Rat policies affect them, they’ll be dead. He’s been asked several times why not just go “independent” and caucus wit the GOP. He refuses. I am repeating what I have heard from the people who know Manchin all modulated by watching his actions.
I never pay an attention to what a politician says. I only watch what they do!

Actually I think Manchin has a better shot at the presidency by switching and doing it through the GOP. Not that I would support him unless he actually got the nomination. Then I would vote for him over a hippy-dippy Che wannabe Rat. (Which will be all we will see from now on from the Rats. )
I don’t necessarily trust Manchin to keep his word if every other Democrat supports it and he was the deciding vote, but I also don’t think he’s the only Senate Democrat who will oppose court packing and I doubt there is actually much appetite for it among the Democrat establishment. They know court packing is bad politics, which is why Biden refused to take a position on it.
That said, I won’t be terribly surprised if Manchin pulls a Jeffords, becomes an independent, and caucuses with Republicans on procedure. The fact that he didn’t do so before doesn’t mean much because he didn’t have the ability to deliver a majority before.
I don’t think the Democrat establishment likes the crazies in their party, any more than we do.
What I find confounding is how they claim to be for “the people” while acting in favor of themselves and the corporations that actively take steps against any and all who would disrupt or question their dominance/message/position.

They are putting out feelers to go after the wives of Justices to attempt to neuter or force them to resign.
Russia and China are enjoying this salt the earth policy the democrats are doing it just makes it easier for them to act.

Did Democrats not vote for Obama because of all the awful things he said about us? Nope. They cheered him on, elected him twice and now build statues of him.
The fact is when a Romney or Sasse jab Trump about character they are just using a convenient club. They’re just fine being friends with all sort of degenerate Democrat swampers. Their real beef with POTUS is on policy. The Never Trumpers want open borders and unfair trade.
Sadly, the gullible voters among us do not understand they are being manipulated by professionals. The end result is conservatives lose elections and conservatism does not gain power.

It was not centrists who eliminated signature verification on mail in ballots. A normal level of signature verification flips GA to GOP. WH and Senate. It was Democrats who did that and they were aided and abetted by the GOP. The stolen election is provably bipartisan in nature. Trump didn’t lose this election. Stop tryign to gaslight that he was.
