What about people that failed a military physical due to poor eyes?
So Reality Winner yes, but !e no?
I suspected many would bring in the idea of Heinlein requiring that only citizens could vote; but only citizens who has served in the military. In that book, there was no way to “fail” to enlist if you wanted to. If you were a paraplegic and insisted on serving they found a job for you, even it meant you sat and watched a radar screen for a blip so you could speak or blink or something to send the alarm. There was no failure to enlist if you wanted to.

In starship troopers they find a way for you to serve even if you have a disability.
So if you had poor eyes you would still go through basic and end up in the logistical support corps.
