The swamp needs us to believe that the elections are fair. They don’t want the commoners getting restless. They know it was a rigged election, as all future elections will be, but they need for us to be calm and compliant.

I disagree.
The Swamp wants us to _know_ the election was stolen and wants us to _know_ we can't do anything about it.
They are like a local Mafia chieftain parading around town in their fancy suit waving at the crowd.
