I sympathize with your and your family’s loss. Prayers!
I also sympathize with your feelings about the events concerning our country. I tend to agree with basically what you express.
Trump was definitely no Reagan. He has a very combative style, which is good to have against your enemies, but must also be managed in order to build allies and coalitions to your side to achieve success at this level of play.
I’m reminded of the famous coaches, Woody Hayes and Bobby Knight, who despite their own greatness ultimately succumbed to their own weaknesses. Their greatest enemies turned out to be themselves.
Trumps heart has always been in the right direction, but I’m not sure his mind followed thru accordingly. Always seemingly getting distracted and off focus by injecting some meaningless slight when proper course called for maintaining momentum towards a more purposeful direction.
My biggest disappointment in Trump... two major things:
1. Focusing exclusively on the “Campaign“ and not the “Election”, while the Democrats did the reverse.
2. Not using the broad powers of the federal government by forcefully instructing the DOJ and DHS to prepare for election fraud and be ready to investigate, secure court warrants, and impound evidence. If we are to believe that we were subjected to foreign and domestic criminal interference in our national election, what good is it to have a federal DOJ and DHS agency and not use them?
I am sorry for the loss your family has suffered - sincere condolences to all of you.
But this was and is not about Trump. Oh, he DID win, and he WAS cheated. But it is really about us and our country. That’s why Trump ran in the first place, not for the job or ego (he knew it would be a nightmare from the start, just not how bad). He has been the ONLY person to run for President in my lifetime who actually CARED about the little guy, who in specifically ran against the Swamp, the Deep State one-worlder asshats. THAT is why they hated him - because he shielded us from them. He postponed their plans for at least 4 years.
Why didn’t he do better? Because he was utterly outnumbered. He had no political entourage or braintrust, he pretty much had to take the advice of the very RINO jerks that he ran against in the first place. Then he had to contend with BS conspiracies and coup attempt after coup attempt - and STILL he moved mountains.
We were lucky to have him leading for 4 years. He gave us that time which, had Hillary won we would never have enjoyed, as she would have finished off the Republic by now.
As fir today’s violence, most if it was a false flag operation designed specifically to obtain the reaction that we are seeing today - I at least have to give the evil bastards some credit for a good plan well executed. But we should be smart enough to not buy into it.
Go grieve, take the time needed to recover. But come back ready to fight the tyrants who would enslave you, your wife, kids and grandchildren (even if as yet unborn). This is an age old and honorable fight, don’t let these sad events derail you.
President Trump is a businessman. I’ve worked for business owners with his peculiar way with words before. There were also some noticeable speaking habits that he had probably learned from his television show. The good ones aren’t so bad, once you get accustomed to them. President Trump is one of our nation’s greatest two presidents, George Washington being the other one.
I don’t want to see or hear another smoothie president. We’ve had about all of the slick puppets of global plutocrats that we can stand.
I don’t think rationality and thinking things through so at least one doesn’t do something stupid is possible any more. Everything is like a religion and a certain holy narrative with a Creed that you need to quote exactly. Questioning anything is forbidden. The left specializes in this and I am wondering if all we have accomplished is to pick up on their bad habits.
Ours is a Government of the lawyers, by the lawyers, for the lawyers.
Sorry to hear about your MIL. My best friend since 1979 died of covid right before Christmas.
Yes. I would agree, but he IS the President, and he can command people or fire them. Ultimately the responsibility is on him who is elected. Looking back, he kept his hands off the DOJ and FBI like the plague, so much so to the detriment of the country. He was definitely intimidated in some ways.
Don Jr.?
Sorry for your loss, but I think all the other crap is just piling up on you and you need a break, we all do. Trump may not be your magic man, but he has taken on far more than anyone has. He gave up everything and is on the cusp of loosing it all. So you won’t be banned, but Trump the POTUS has been banned. The most powerful man in the world silenced. Food for thought
You're a Springsteen-loving Yankee.

Facial recognition firm claims antifa infiltrated Trump protesters who stormed Capitol

But Joe, told me Trump incited the “insurrection” today; and I just can’t believe Antifa would respond to anything Trump encouraged. /sarc
My mother-in-law died tonight. Yes, COVID, with pneumonia.

I am very sorry for your loss.
Responding to your points...
(1) I agree with you...Vandalism was not acceptable...I thought that our side was better than the other side...
(2) Like you, I am annoyed by how some people were quick to condemn violence in this case but not in BLM protests...
(3) Like you, I am disappointed with President Trump...
Not for forcefully condemning violence in DC...No, I think he did condemn violence forcefully...
I am disappointed with President for other reasons...
I wanted him to stop his lawsuits once the Electoral College met in December...
Al Gore stopped contesting the 2000 election in December 2000...Same concept...
Joe Biden will be moving into White House in two weeks...President Trump is still talking about being President for four more years...I think that is wrong...I think that is undignified.
I do not believe in “winning at all costs”...
I am not denying that election system does not have any problems...For example, I don’t think a ballot should be sent to every voter...It should be mailed only if the voter makes the request.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with President pointing out problems in the election system...However, he should have stopped challenging the election result once the Electoral College met...
“Trump is not the end-all-be-all, and not the hill to die on. I see far too much kingly devotion to him rather than the USA. Do not confuse them.”
I think you made a good point...”Kingly devotion”...Good description indeed...I get the impression that some, not all, FR posters want Trump to be the “president for life”...
America should not have a “president for life”...Absolutely not...
Please explain how Trump lost votes in the tabulation, in multiple states multiple times. Then we can talk about whether or not there was a landslide.
Thanks for the voice of sanity.
Trump is still only human and under tremendous pressure.
What he’s taken from the left daily for the last 5 years now would have made lesser men crack and give up.
He’s not perfect and does not make perfect decisions. Yet his call for peace has wisdom init as otherwise, they would accuse him of even worse than they already have, as if anything he does at this point would make any difference.
At least for those attacking Trump I will have no problem pointing out what he tweeted in his calls for peace.
We can respond in an appropriate way even though we are better than that.
Being better than that does not mean being suicidal. It has to do with motivation even when the actions can be misconstrued. Saying we’re better than that to avoid responding is a cop out.
That’s funny because Washington is by far THE greatest president and the greatest MAN ever, and he was more a “smoothie” than a bull in a china shop ala Trump.
The man kept himself in check. He was highly emotional and passionate but metered himself. That is part of why people of all stripes venerated Washington as no other man has ever been, because he was so wise and in control, including of himself. They followed his example. He stopped his military from angrily marching onto Congress. Almost no one could honestly hate the man...you were a fool if you did, even those who opposed him (Jefferson).
Who else was much like that? Reagan was, and he was cheery about it while Washington was more serious.
This is not looking like an American Rev, BTW, as so many try to refer; it’s looking more like the bratty brutal out of control French Rev. There is zero organization and rational thought process as there was in the American Rev.
