This is the speech I'll be giving today from an undisclosed location.
I wrote a speech today.
I was planning to say I fear the chaos of establishing a precedent that Congress can overturn elections.
Boy, was I right.
Chaos. Anarchy. It’s wrong and un-American.
The vote we are about to cast is important.
Now more than ever.
The question is: Should Congress override the certified results from the states and nullify the states’ right to conduct elections?
The vote today is not a protest; the vote today is literally to overturn the election!
Voting to overturn state-certified elections would be the opposite of what states’ rights Republicans have always advocated for.
This would doom the electoral college forever.
It was never intended by our founders that Congress have the power to overturn state-certified elections.
My oath to the Constitution doesn’t allow me to disobey the law. I cannot vote to overturn the verdict of the states.
Such a vote would be to overturn everything held dear by those of us who support the rights of states in this great system of federalism bequeathed to us by our founders.
The electoral college was created to devolve the power of selecting presidential electors to the states.
The electoral college is, without question, an inseparable friend to those who believe that every American across our vast country deserves to be heard.
If Congress were given the power to overturn the states’ elections . . . what terrible chaos would ensue.
Imagine the furor against the electoral college if Congress becomes a forum to overturn states’ electoral college slates.
It is one thing to be angry. It is another to focus one’s anger in a constructive way. That hasn’t happened today, to say the least. We simply cannot destroy the Constitution, our laws, and the electoral college in the process.
I hope as the nation’s anger cools, we can channel that energy into essential electoral reforms in every state.
America is admired around the world for our free elections. We must, we absolutely must, fix this mess and restore confidence and integrity to our elections.
The protesters meeting in Washington today are not there to overturn an election. They are there to insure that a fair representation of only legal votes cast in this election are secured and no illegal votes be counted. Mr. Paul, surely you are aware of the chicanery, voter repression, vote manipulation, foreign involvement, and sundry other illegalities not the least of which were perpetrated through unlawful means by State sec. of states, state supreme courts, local election officials, etc. All people were asking you and your fellow national legislatures to do was to delay your vote and allow the state legislatures to sort out their respective states’ mess. Is a delay too much to ask?
Well, you asked and you got the answer you must have expected. In the 5 stages of grief, FR is leaving step 1 (denial) and entering step 2 (anger). If you want an intellectual discussion of the constitution, the electoral college or election law, today is not the day, nor freerepublic the place. Check back in 6 months to a year.
There was one guy on tv trying to explain what the video was showing. His name was Brian Todd. I was watching CNN because I knew their lying heads would be exploding.
He was totally lying about what the video was showing! He had to go back and rephrase what he had just said, because he realized the video and his rhetoric did not match. He is nothing but a paid propagandist for CNN.
Weasel words. The Republic is being stolen by criminals and all Rand can do is knuckle under to it. I guess he’s afraid they’ll send another MK-Ultra brain-washed assassin after him.
I’m surprised he took this position. So much easier for him to object. HE is up in 2022!!
Sincerely hope it doesn’t imperil him. Also, many here will never support him now.

Does it matter? This isn’t about arcane rules. It’s not about the Constitution (which doesn’t sanction cheating. I looked). It’s not even about President Trump, mostly. This country is divided. It has been for quite a while, and it’s only getting worse. One side cheated; the side that ALWAYS gets their way cheated. The side whose views have been ignored for decades got screwed. We are tired of it. The protestors in D.C. are really tired of it. So, Senate, do whatever.
I cannot vote for lying bs that enslaves the US people
For a legitimate election, he is quite right.
For a fraudulent one that everyone knows is stolen, someone has to take a stand and not treat it as legitimate.
I have been thinking about this for several years and it seems to be the only resort. The Republican party is as much a part of the uni-party as anyone.
Creating a MAGA party is also an option, but a 3-way split ticket gives the democRAT the win. Better to take oever the democray party and make it American again.

As far as I know, nobody declared Congress’ power to challenge the votes unconstitutional.
I suppose Rand will be fine, then, with Butt-Head and Commie knocking on his door to inspect his firearms, without his lifting a finger to make sure they won fair and square?

Nobody really owns Rand like they do other senators
They are all hiding with security but they don’t want us to have guns or security.

Yet he rejects the fix.
All they need to do is send the contested states back to their respective state legislatures. The Constitution says that state legislatures appoint their electors for the electoral college. They could do a full audit if they want.
There’s no reason why the state legislatures can’t take a few days to take a look at their own election messes and decide what to do.
That's RP. He is an anti-populist, always sticking to his libertarian/conservative guns. He was tone deaf today. Those here that "will never support him" are a tiny fringe of the electorate.
As dangerous as it sounds, the first step to achieving that is to not vote Republican. Opponents are one thing, traitors are another and constituents cannot support traitors nor those who tolerate them.
There is no future with any election that allows such clear cut fraud. There is no future with any election that does not allow ALL voters to select "None Of The Above" instead of being forced to choose between candidates that the Uniparty offers as false alternatives to each other.
We're long overdue for term limits for all political offices and government jobs. We're overdue for recall laws for ALL political positions. We're overdue for high crimes and treason for bribery by foreign agents. We're overdue for voting minimums, where if a candidate doesn't get a minimum percentage, they're automatically removed from contention.
