Ketchup on eggs can be a subject of intense debate. Is this a combination you grew up with, or is the idea completely foreign to you? Based off of casual conversation here at The Takeout, it’s clear that for every enthusiast, there’s a hater who despise the very idea of Heinz on the breakfast table. And as a condiment, people have very strong feelings about ketchup more generally, like whether or not it belongs on hot dogs or, as we’ve discussed amongst ourselves previously, on burgers. So what do you think? Does ketchup belong on eggs?

Had a friend from college who came from India who put ketchup on practically everything, even waffles. Eggs steak potatoes, hot dogs, lamb, many. MAny things. We wondered if she put it on cereal too lol 😆
If you must have ketchup, please just put it on the home fries.
lol....YES! Ketchup and Tabasco. Yum
Some people can’t take it straight. I do two teaspoons a day straight during the cold and flu season and haven’t had a serious cold or flu in about four years.
If they’re my eggs, I’ll put anything I want on them, including ketchup. Actually, I prefer Jufran on my scrambled eggs. Jufran is a Filipino “ketchup” made from bananas that is less acidic than ketchup. If you live near an Asian market, give it a try— but watch out for the hot and spicy type!
I’m with you on the Texas Pete.
Good grief! Are we becoming so politically correct that we need to even consider a food "belonging" anywhere. If you want ketchup, go ahead an use it. If you prefer something else, use that. If you want your eggs straight up, eat that. I hope we never get to the "egg police" stage.
The military used to serve powdered eggs that were green. They had to put ketchup on them to make them edible. The joke was that they put red ketchup on green eggs, said “merry christmas, “ and down the hatch.
Ketchup with scrambled eggs or corned beef hash and eggs is excellent!
Ketchup only belongs on French Fries.
It does not belong on hot dogs or hamburgers.
Also, flour does not belong in Cornbread. Only Corn Meal.
And if it’s not Cornbread Dressing, it’s not Dressing. Period.
None of this little cubes of bread crap.
Sunny side up w/ Ketchup, Tiger Sauce AND Cholula...
The only condiments that I put on eggs are salt and pepper, and sometimes some melted cheese.
Agreed. Tapatio or green Tabasco for me.
Well there ya go!
Ketchup doesn’t belong on ANYTHING!
On scrambled eggs or an omelette —sure, why not? Taste is subjective and I am all for people eating what they like.
I was looking for that.
Tapatio is good, but Not hot enough for me..............
Nope. Ketchup and eggs has always been a favorite of mine for 50+ years.
