Yep. Gerry wrote that song. Not all the bands wrote their own music in those days. It was quite a beautiful simple tune.

Gerry conceived of the song in the car and went to a payphone and called his Mom. He asked his Mom to get his recorder and press Record. Then Gerry hummed what he had on the song over the phone and his Mom captured the initial idea. It may have just been a snippet of the song like the intro. Not sure. But it is a nice story.
