This spring, I will be repositioning and repurposing the old quonset frame for our first, serious greenhouse. Long term, I want to build a rocket stove with a “bench mass” along the north wall of the frame. Lots of cleaning/trash disposal.

But, with the RV site cleared and the things store, we can start the spring gardening, with hydroponics in the basement.

I have several pictures of those rocket stove with bench mass that I printed out a few years back. They always looked like a good idea to me.

Since hubby doubled the size of our “shed” without consulting me, the cost over-run will take most of the money that I had set aside for a garden room to be added outside the dining room patio door area-so that dream will never happen.

To compensate, additional large windows were put on the back of the shed which faces southwest—slightly more south. So it can be partitioned off and insulated for growing plants if we actually need to in the winter. Might even install a soap stone stove or something for heat-we have wood from 20 trees that were sacrificed for the shed.

I have our little sunroom off the basement patio that helps extend the season, and makes wonderful sunny heat when the sun shines in the winter time.
