Hubert Humphrey declined to count Electoral votes in January 1969, the President pro tempore of the Senate did it instead.

In case Pence resigned, the votes would be counted by either Chuck Grassley or Dianne Feinstein, depending on the outcome of the Georgia races the day before.

And there would be a difference between a vp who declined to do it versus a scenario where there is no vp....right?

I suspect that the race the day before may not be decided by the time of this vote.

It doesn’t really matter whether it is a Dem or a GOP counting the votes..the process is the same.

Congress is going to decide this mess. They will debate after the objections...and then we get President Biden.

Don’t count on Chuck Grassley. He says this has been a great election with no fraud. He is perhaps the most tenured “deepest state” tool out there (not to mention Diane Feinstein)
