DougKC;
Free Republic is supposed to be place where we can hold discussions about these things without people treating you like you are stupid for asking questions and asking what ifs. Ignore all the “it aint gonna happen” stick up their ass crowd.
If NO resignation and Pence does NOT show up on January 6 2020 then Senate President ProTemp Chuck Grassley would act in his place. Not certain how that would work, but he is quite aware of the efforts of the FBI and DOJ to take Trump down, probably also aware of the Electoral Fraud.
“The president pro tempore of the United States Senate (also president pro tem) is the second-highest-ranking official of the United States Senate. Article I, Section Three of the United States Constitution provides that the Vice President, despite not being a senator, is the President of the Senate. It also establishes that the Senate must choose a president pro tempore to act in his absence:[1]
The Senate shall choose their other Officers, and also a President pro tempore, in the absence of the Vice President, or when he shall exercise the Office of President of the United States.
The president pro tempore is empowered to preside over Senate sessions in the vice president’s absence. In practice, neither the vice president nor the president pro tempore usually presides; instead, the duty of presiding officer is rotated among junior senators of the majority party to give them experience in parliamentary procedure.
The president pro tempore is third in the line of succession to the presidency, after the vice president and the Speaker of the House of Representatives and ahead of the Secretary of State.[2]”
I am not absolutely certain, but if the VP resigns BEFORE the electors meet his party may substitute a replacement and then the electors votes for Pence would count for the replacement. (Pretty sure.)
Resignation after the electors meet the 25th amendment would apply and both houses of Congress would need to approve a replacement. The President Pro Tempore would be acting VP until that happens.

Vice President Pence has long been admired for his image as a dedicated Christian. However, we all know that we could be in a time when Christians will be persecuted for doing what is right according to their Christian values and God’s Holy Word. If he is put into a position like that, he will have to make a decision about what is right, not according to his fear or the pressure to go along to get along. His Christian values will compel him to do the right thing even if he is threatened with punishment. If he doesn’t, well then, he loses his influence and his image as a Christian to those who believe. Pray that Vice President Pence will do the right thing.
