Mr. Duke,
I concur. It only took me 21 years to figure out that life is too short. I tried several times during that timeframe with two daughters to support but I finally reached my breaking point.
Fifteen years later, I am a very happy (but older) man now married almost 9 years to a H.S. Sweetheart. And, yes, my financial position is much improved but I plan on working as long as I am a positive contributor to my department. Losing 1/2 of my retirement at the divorce and 8 years of alimony was costly.
It was a painful process and I tell young men today (I am a professor and around a lot of college aged men) that selecting the RIGHT mate is the most important decision they will ever make in their lives. If there is any doubt and if child rearing philosophy is not consistent, don’t do it.
Happy New Years!

Another year, or maybe less,
What’s this I hear? Well can’t you guess?
She feels neglected
And he’s suspected
Of makin’ whoopee.
He doesn’t make much money.
Five thousand dollars per.
Some judge who thinks he’s funny,
Says “You pay six to her.”
The guy says “Judge, suppose I fail?”
The judge says “Bud, right into jail.
You’d better keep her.
You’ll find it’s cheaper
Than makin’ whoopee.”
+1.

Hitchcock was a genius filmmaker.
Six actors, eight extras, four locations, done. He knew how to tell a story minimalistically and keep it interesting.
Thanks for sharing this, as it is one I never saw before.
Word. Men are extremely simple creatures. Why do most women not understand that? Fortunately, my wife version 2.0 does understand that.
'tis better to live on the corner of a roof than in a large mansion with a contentious woman.
I thought it was a 30 minute show?
(Alfred Hitchcock Hour was a 60 minute show)
Maybe there were some episodes where he showed two stories?

Agree with all the above. I find that I appreciate his genius even more as I get older.
A truly great man.
A short clip from when Hitchcock accepted his AFI award. Quite a few of the great ones who had appeared in his movies were there to eulogize him, including Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant.
He had different shows of different lengths.
You are welcome sir, and a very Happy New Year to you.
Thanks
