So how many of us FReepers are still on Windows 7 as their primary computer / workstation / gaming machine?

And how many still have a copy of it around, maybe on an old hardware machine, or in a VM (virtual machine), for those times when only Windows 7 will do?

I upgraded to Windows 10 years ago on my Windows PC (I also have boxes running OpenBSD and various Linuxes). It’s the machine I’m using for work-from-home - running scrums for several dev teams and MS Teams work conferences. It hasn’t been problem-free, but it’s within acceptable limits, certainly fewer problems than I’d have trying to use Windows 7 for work-from-home. I realize folks who stick with Windows 7 have their reasons, but I don’t know what those reasons are.

I keep an old Windows 7 clunker around for the occasional need, but use a Chromebook these days for web stuff and email.

Not here, went from Vista to Win 10. Bit of a learning curve. Lost 2 programs from the Win 98 era. Worst thing of updating is 2 steps forward and three back. Did salvage hardrive from last putter and am using it for storage and system copy.

I can’t let go of my Windows 7. I sit upstairs in a white gown with a wedding cake desktop background...
Ok, I’m not THAT fanatical, but I’m still keeping it close until I find a cure for its inability to start. I had to move on to 8 and 10 but nothing will ever top the 7.

I would still be running XP if it could run the current applications. Started running Windows at the 3.4 release.

I guess I’m one of the wandering lost and looking for a new home in the post-Win 7 age of Microsoft.

I am learning to live with Apple now, but I am still using a Win 7 computer for my accounting and other similar things.

It works well for all I need it to do, but nothing lasts forever, especially not computers.

I want to build or buy a new desktop and then transfer the old Win 7 computer to it “as is”.

I have a never used copy of Win 7 still factory sealed in the box waiting for me to do this “one of these days”.

The old me would have just upgraded to 10 and soldiered on, but not now.

I didn’t leave Microsoft. Microsoft left me and now I don’t want to give whatever they have become any new business.

I don’t want to feed The Beast any more than necessary.

I would still be using it at work, but we had to upgrade to 10 (spit) to accommodate some new techie stuff.

26 years in the IT business “spoiled” me with ready access to current iterations of software. Happily retired now and content to let my software age along with me.

Still have Windows 7 on my desktop. It feels like a sports car compared to the miserble W10 on my laptop.

Dealing with 10 on my wife’s laptop cements my decision to stay with 7 pro 64.

Her rage when MS decides to update and she is locked out is just icing.

I’m running either W10, W7 or XP depending on the need of the moment. I also have a Linux drive too which I’m slowly transitioning to.

Went to Win 10 a year ago with fear and trembling. It’s been fine - one old game doesn’t run on it, the rest do. Did the free update from 8.1 to 10 on my old laptop also with no issues. Seems to be a good, stable OS.
