Lake Trout are an invasive species in Utah in that they are not native to the state’s waters. I wonder- what native species are they displacing? Or were there no top predator species there?

Lake trout/mackinaw were seeded in Yellowstone in 1890, so they’ve been around quite awhile. They put them in Flaming and the Blue in Colorado. We’ve fished both. While you are correct, I don’t think they consider them invasive anymore. That lake, Flaming, is naturally cold water fishing and while beautiful, it can be nasty if any wind comes up but it’s worth the trip if you’ve never been.

In that part of flyover, Lake Powell is categorically the best fishing, most beautiful and I highly recommend if you get the chance. I’m prejudiced because I don’t really like cold water fishing, so I naturally recommend u skip Wyoming and Colorado and head to Utah. Go to Bullfrog marina in Utah, not Page, Az.. just my two cents.
