I am getting sick of this damned state, I moved here in the late 90's from a midwestern state.
Since all of the commies from commifornia have been comming here like locusts colorado has become commierado.
I have been considering the Norther parts of Maine, Vermont, Montana or South/North Dakota....
Any feedback to people who have left colorado or other infested states?
They will follow you, like a bunch of locusts.
Go north. You already know how to draw the map. Seriously, Wyoming is totally different. Stay out of Teton County though.
Do you have to leave the state? Why not move to Gunnison? Or sterling?
I’m very familiar with Mid state or Northern Maine. Actually all of Maine since I lived there in the 80’s and have vacationed there every year since.
Portland and the entire coast is “Commaine”. But most other is very conservative blue collar. Mainers are cautious of non Mainers but are very friendly once they know you. A beautiful state. No big cities unless you count Portland and it’s infested with millennial twits. And it isn’t very big either. Low tax base. I’m definitely considering inland for retirement. I now live in VA which I’m sure everyone is very familiar with lately.
Texas has:
-deep water ports
-oil/natural gas
-plenty of agricultural land
-water
-nukes
-an air force
I’m a realtor near Dallas. DM me.
Watch the video of a short speech by one of the coolest and most conservative Governors in the US, Kristi Noem.
I guarantee you that you will be packing your bags to move to South Dakota after listening to this gal.
KRISTI NOEM BLASTS LEFTISTS' 'UNPRECEDENTED ATTACKS ON OUR FREEDOMS,' COUNTERS WITH MESSAGE OF HOPE
Wyoming near the Bighorns.
Butte MT (avoid Kalispell/Bozeman/Whitefish) Butte is an old school working town.
S Dakota - west side in the Hills, avoid Rapid City (my hometown), Hill City, and Spearfish. No income tax. Did I mention cold winters and snow? Yup. East River is flat. Really flat.
Consider Missouri (Branson area)
AZ - Flagstaff and Sedona
Avoid Utah and Idaho for the same reasons (unless you are Mormon).
N Dak? Oh, F No.... do you like trees and mountains? In N Dak the tallest tree is a telephone pole and the state bird is the mosquito.
Just my $0.02 worth.
Don’t go to New England states.....it’s all Blue up there.
You forgot 2.5% property taxes and Fire Ants everywhere!
Stay out of NJ. I live here. It sucks. It’s a Democrat controlled sh!thole. Wife and I should have left when we had the chance.
West Virginia, except the part nearest Washington DC. Once a blue state, now turning red. Not much skiing. Poor medical facilities unless you're near Morgantown. If you've got money look around Marlinton. Now a Constitutional Carry state!
Southeast Ohio. ("Western West Virgina") In the coulee country near the river I have NO mosquitoes,(or black flies or deer flies), fertile land, (old farms fairly cheap), moderate climate, negligible snow, decent people. Also once blue but turning red. Taxes very moderate. Bag limit on deer is six; you can hunt your own land without a license. Wild turkeys, too. Locate near Athens, (home of the University of Ohio), if you want bookstores and fancier food. No skiing at all. I don't miss it. Kentucky. Wish I'd looked harder there before selecting my retirement BOL. Eastern part very poor, lots of coal mine pollution to avoid. Central part is almost Eden. Firearms laws quite permissive. No skiing at all.
Catholic?
Berkeley Springs/Morgan county.
Just across the river.
Skiing, good hospitals within easy driving distance.
Even Cross Junction VA area, 20 miles south of BS, WV.
God’s country.
Best people, ever.
Carry a gun just because you feel like it.
Agonizingly beautiful mountains.
East Tennessee is great. Lots of isolated areas, lots of guns, lots of God-fearing Patriots. No State income tax.
Don’t understand why New England is on your list - many Commies there.
South Dakota always tempted me.
I’m in the same position as the OP. Hoping for some new ideas here. If I have to give up skiing (it’s been ruined anyway) I should at least get warmer winters. Wife hates the desert, I’m not a fan of Texas. Grew up in VA, school in New England. Not going back to either.
If it is northern parts of New England ... New Hampshire is your only bet.
Even though we have both US Senators and Reps in the ‘D’ column, we have an all ‘R’ State Senate/House/Governor starting in Jan. (if ‘R’ means anything anymore).
No Sales Tax, No Income Tax, and property tax is not too bad of you don’t have a home overlooking a lake or the mountains.
Constitutional Carry state (no permits needed for anything firearms related).
Californians destroy every state that they invade. Except for us. We are the ones who left a decade ago and have voted Conservative in our new state.
Just curious; why do you say the skiing has been ruined? Besides the grandkids that’s about all I miss of colorado
