My mom canned about 200 jars of tomatoes every year. Dad would go out at the end of the tomato season and get field tomatoes for $1 a bushel.

Plenty of tomatoes for our goulash.

My parents were amazingly patient.

I was always the rabble rouser. Mom sent me to charm school. It didn't help.
