ESPN NFL contributor Booger McFarland was accused of racism this past week after a comment he made about black football players. Specifically, McFarland suggested that some black players were more concerned with building a brand for themselves than actually working on being good at their craft.

The clown car parade is just getting started.
Jamarcus Russell may have had problems but I don’t see any evidence he cared more about building his brand. Same thing with Dwayne Haskins. But I don’t think Dwayne hoskins has run out of chances.
He may not be wrong, but can you give me an actual example of a player who’s focusing more on his brand?
To be replaced with Aqua Talib from Ebonics U.!
Thanks for speaking your mind McFarland and yes, truth to power.
The idiot PC crowd detests your non-plantation mentality, especially since you were talking about a team sport. Where individuals are not bigger than the unit.
He gets it!
Somebody hire this man and screw ESPN...
"ESPN is Firing Booger McFarland for Fictitious Reasons in Order to Cut Payroll Due to Declining Viewership"
Any of those clowns with a twitter account, a signature scoring ‘pose’, and shoe contract cares more about their brand than the sport or team.
I know exactly what he’s talking about and this is why sports has become unbearable to watch over the past 2 decades.
If we can ever get a la carte cable / streaming / sat they are gonna be in even more trouble.
always like his football comments and commentary on football games... he was right on most of the time on calls and what was happening on the field AND when the refs missed a call he would call them on it on air and would say good call on questionable calls if he thought the were good. Always like him. Maybe some espn exec. ought to just go up and slap him. I would pay to watch that.

Thanks for the post.
I’d never heard of him until now.
Wisdom always comes with age and this guy has plenty of it for black youth if they wish to listen.
WTF? Thats a valid point and concern, especially with todays young athletes who are deep into social media and marketing themselves. A thoughtful question for sports journalism, which apparently has been reduced to Outkick and a few other organizations. He needs to hire a lawyer and sue them.
I’ve watched ESPN through the decades morph itself into some politically correct culture network that really cares nothing about sports and everything about the progressive agenda. Sports is just the vehicle for their message.
If there should be anyone fired, take your pick at any number of these women who sit around on these mid day shows and opine about things they know next to nothing about. They are not interesting, they don’t have a lot of knowledge, some of what they say is outright stupid. Some are borderline hot to look at but then again if the volume is on, whatever hotness they portrayed evaporates when they open their mouth. Who the hell cares what they think. How does their opinion or analysis help our fellow man? Better yet, who cares what any of those ppl think. And they are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to run their mouth. What a gig.
I don’t know if Chris Berman has retired or not. He can just give ‘em the middle finger and say goodbye to this crap.
I’ve always wondered about this guy. Who uses a nickname “Booger” for themselves??
I always liked him on MNF. I learned things about football I did not know.
How can a black man make racist comments about other black men?
