Yes, they are our fault. I would add though the first images coming out of China in late December/early January were and should’ve scared the hell out of everyone. I don’t know if one can find any of those video now, likely scrubbed from the internet.
But this is a powerful little film from this child. And it is incredibly important to take into account the damage that’s been done and it’s reach beyond just the economy. Humans were not meant to live in isolation. Very few individuals can without suffering severe mental damage.
But it is also used as ‘grooming technique’ to gain cooperation from the victim.
