New Hallmark Christmas Movie Plot
Single socialite mother and charity fundraiser imprisoned for giving improper “donations” to get her child into USC moves to small Northern California town in the Sierras to escape her sordid past. Her daughter has disowned her due to what she had done.
At a virtual Advent service on Zoom put on by the local church in which Ed Asner serves as a saintly deacon and Host, in gallery view she sees a hunky but noble single father who was jailed for failing to wear a facemask while he was ministering to the homeless in San Francisco. After serving his sentence he had soured on life, leaves everything behind and moves to the small town and becomes a wildlife preserve ranger. He hates being a ranger and living in the country rather than the City, but has to make a living somehow and wants to provide a good virus-free environment for his young son.
She later finds that he has posted on the church’s Facebook account to which she has been added by the church, and begins to respond to his posts. They initially bicker about everything on Facebook, to the point where he accuses her of being a Facebook troll.
They meet for real when she visits the preserve on a church-arranged outing where they are appropriately socially distanced from the ranger. At some point they become separated from the others after he has done his tour for the church. Snow falls softly on the trees while they disclose their real pasts and fall in love.
Among other things, the ranger had told the church about the fragile existence of the preserve due to sinister outside forces. They then work to save the cute local wildlife from evil corporate loggers who are plotting to buy and destroy the wildlife preserve by clear cutting it. They do this through her fundraising skills, by setting up a website and GoFundMe account that raises money to stop the loggers. They learn that the meaning of life is to sacrifice yourself for something bigger and better.
Her estranged daughter, who had joined a radical environmental activist group after being expelled from USC, comes across her mother’s website and forgives her for her past. She joins them in their quest to stop the evil corporate loggers. Together, they expose the loggers’ attempts to evade California’s environmental laws, and the loggers are arrested for setting up a fake carbon-credit scheme where they claim they are preserving the forest while in fact destroying it.
The socialite and ranger publicly declare their love for each other on Zoom during the church’s virtual Christmas Eve service, and he proposes to her while the church’s members press their “clap” buttons on Zoom and Silent Night is playing in the background. Speaker views of Ed Asner and the daughter are shown as they quietly cry for joy.
The End, although they will live happily ever after.

Probably that they bribed a school official to misuse his authority, instead of bribing the institution directly.
Had they taken the Rodney Dangerfield approach and just bought the school a new building, there wouldn't have been a problem.
The pictures of her daughter on a rowing machine and then saying she was on the rowing team was really bad. Fraud. I don’t have a problem with her doing a little jail time.
It must be really hard to fight age at her age. Think of the hours she has to put into looking like “hollywood”

That’s pretty much the tradition at most universities. This and the Martha Stewart situation were just prosecutorial overkill. Why it’s almost like they were Trump supporters or something.
