Christmas was great, thanks! Watched “The Bishop’s Wife” a new tradition in our house.

Great. I watched the The Bishop's Wife earlier in the week on TCM. Love it.

Not sure if you know this. Originally and into filming Grant was the Bishop and Niven was Dudley. Then someone (the producer?) came in and switched the roles and filming had to be restarted. I can see why since Dudley is the main character.

Meh. Plumbing started acting up again after two trips from the septic monkeys this year. Instead of trying to get them back out here (which probably would have cost time and a half, assuming they’d even be available) I went to Ace Hardware and got a couple bottles of that melt-your-face-off caustic stuff - Liquid Fire, and another brand. we figured that unless the main or part of the drain field collapsed, there had to be something in the line, because they didn’t snake it when they were here. So I poured a bottle in the toilet and a bottle down the kitchen sink, then rinsed with cold water a little while later. The stainless in the sink is going to need a good scrubbing with a Brillo pad, but so far - knock on wood - the toilets are flushing normally, the bathtub isn’t backing up, and the sinks drain. Now, we’re using very conservative amounts of water when we do run some, to keep an eye on it, but that firewater did something to open it up, apparently. The concensus is, due to the timing and other factors, when The Deadbeats were staying here, either something was knocked off the shelf into the toilet, or the youngest Deadbeat - the Bobblehead - put something in the bowl and flushed it. I’ll get two more bottles and pour them down the plumbing in a few days. If there’s some sort of infrastructure damage, that’s bad voodoo, because rebuilding the system could cost four or five grand.

I have no response to that, but interesting. Get anything good for Christmas?

Heh. I got up after an all-day nap and went into the kitchen for some ruby grapefruit juice. I was still bleary eyed, and the Queen was in her usual Sunday evening spot - on the sofa with two cats on top of her. I stood in the doorway and said, "I feel like a Big Mac." She lifted her head, took a long look at me, standing there in my shorts and T-shirt, hair everywhere, then finally said, "You look like Jack Nicholson in 'The Shining'".

I just schlepped up the hall and got in the shower. *chuckle*
