Years ago, my father suggested that the penalty for murder should be 30 days in jail and your picture in the paper. The trash can be taken out pretty simply, and if somebody hits one of the Good Guys, then they will face their own justice in 30 days. I actually think we would have a safer society at the neighborhood level and a much less corrupt government that way.
