An investor in CD Projekt, the studio behind 'Cyberpunk 2077,' sued the company and its executives Thursday in federal court in Los Angeles, claiming that they hyped the game with false and misleading statements and cost him and other investors money.
The game suffers from “an enormous number of bugs,” the lawsuit says, echoing the complaints of players.
Eight million people pre-ordered copies of 'Cyberpunk 2077,' a sci-fi game set in a futuristic fantasy city with movie star Keanu Reeves as the basis of one character. But many players quickly soured on the game after it shipped this month, noting a series of glitches and calling the development sloppy.
Sony and Microsoft offered refunds to players who bought the game through their PlayStation and Xbox online stores. Sony went so far as to pull the game from its store, shocking industry analysts. CD Projekt, which is based in Warsaw, Poland, did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent outside regular business hours.
Shares in CD Projekt are down about 38 percent from early December, before the company released the game.
The company said it has sold more than 13 million copies of 'Cyberpunk 2077' through Dec. 20, missing analyst forecasts, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Money laundering?
In the past games were released after they had gone through extensive beta and bug testing. Today it is common to release a game and then have future patches that correct errors and bugs. It is a crappy practice but many companies do it.
Pollocks and Keanu Reeves. What an investment! Lol
Early adapters/beta testing would have cut the problems down.
Also, sounds like the developers made their money, anyway.
Wal-Mart is still hawking the game and have posters all over their game aisle. They gonna be sorry.
Cough...Bethesda...cough...cough..
You can design your character as a tran and you pick if you want to be circumcised or not.
I believe the design team was majority female.
There is lots of weird woke stuff.
So much for WalMart's "family" image. CP2077 has VERY disturbing and deviant, graphic sexual content and violence. TOTALLY inapprioriate for just about any human, but particularly one under 18.
This is actually a story I’ve been following for a while.
Two video game companies came along nearly at the same time with bold projects. “Star Citizen” and “Cyberpunk 2077”. I’ve watched the two work as different companies with different strategies.
Star Citizen is criticized for taking 300 Million crowd-funded dollars and pushing their release date (and subsequent stumbles) from 2014 to ..well... Hasn’t happened yet. They manage to keep thousands of loyal fans and crowdfunders happy still because they refuse to release garbage.
2077 just told everyone to “relax, we’ve got this covered”. They were investor funded and (follow me here..) “Had to” tell the investors that everything was great.
As a small business owner who has been working with investors for awhile I’m now proving that investors are a bad idea. It’s a bad idea because investors aren’t interested in the product, they are interested in the money. And often what I present to my potential customers is different than what I present to the investors. Very skittish people.
If you’re interested, examine the two groups. Compare and contrast.
The game features sexual story arcs to further the plot that involve situations based on the player’s preferences.
So basically, graphic gay sex in the game. This photo was taken after they were lauded as “ground breaking” for this decision.
Interesting.
I was one of the owners of a tech company in the early 90’s. We grew rapidly and took it public. We had an instant market for our stock.
But we learned that we had two audiences to please: customers and public shareholders.
It’s a lot of work to take on investors. Does that match your experience?
PM me if it’s easier.
Here's a better game... based on current events...
Fallout 76 was widely hated for its bugs, which is why we call the developer, “Bugthesda”, but I still loved it to pieces. It’s hugely improved.
This is also why I normally wait to buy new consoles and games. I let them get the kinks out first.
