“Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro and his family are telling the story of the grisly bowling accident that impaled his hand in September.
In the upcoming TLC special “Buddy Valastro: Road to Recovery,” the Hoboken baker, who is currently on the mend, revisits the traumatic event that took place at a bowling alley in his home. The special includes home security footage from that day, when his hand became lodged in a bowling pinsetter.
Of course, Valastro, 43, has often invited cameras into his space at work as the star of the reality series “Cake Boss,” which premiered on TLC in 2009. The show features his family and employees at Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, where Valastro bakes and decorates elaborate cakes with different themes. The series made a major reality TV star out of Valastro and made Carlo’s a tourist destination, allowing Valastro to start a chain of bakeries and open eateries across the country.
After the accident, Valastro had to undergo several surgeries to repair his right hand.

I watched a Gordon Ramsey show for the first time in many, many years yesterday.
Kitchen NIghtmares.
It was an Italian restaurant in Babylon, NY.
Ended up more than a few of the restaurants he visited, including this one, had mob ties.
And NO, I have NO IDEA how this ties into the current thread :)
Maybe my having an Italian last name and the cake guy having one set it off in my head.
How did he impale his hand while bowling?
A while ago went to an Olive Garden near Baltimore. We ordered pasta and were informed there was no fresh pasta that day as the cook got his hand caught in the machine.
Ah, great.
He has a bowling alley in his basement. He went behind the lane to try fixing a mechanism that was jammed.
Got it. Thanks.
Makes it Kinda hard to feel sorry for him
I figured that was the last thing I needed to see.
Bye, bye, Buddy.
Good thing you didn’t order the man-he-caughtie.
Whoever installed that indoor bowling system should be sued for poor design choices. There should never be any possibility for such a horrible accident.
He could have just bled out in the bowling alley, snagged onto that pin changer.
The Dad, Buddy should never have reached into that area anyway. Maybe he’d had a few beers already.

I think that’s a stupid comment. You probably want car hoods to be sealed at the factory so no one can put their hand in the fan.
Thanks for the clarification. I was going to say that if you get your hand stuck in the pinsetter while bowling, you’re doing it wrong.
And the pinsetter was named Fabio
I think Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray played the leads in this movie.
For those that missed it (me), it will be repeated at 1:00am.
Yah, you let go der ball as it goes toward der pins. Yah?
What’s cake without gourmet ice cream?
Talk about follow through!
Right on! I’m glad you found that. Great movie!
