There is no one like Rush. He is a national treasure.

Actually, the first time I heard the name, Rush Limbaugh, was in 1982, and it wasn’t our Rush.

We were new in the area and I was with my sons at a local bakery thrift store on one of the main drags in Cape Girardeau. We heard a tremendous crash and went outside and saw a brown cadillac plowed into the back of another car. There was hardly any traffic on the 4 lane road, but it was a blazing bright summer day. So we surmised that the glare might have blinded the driver of the cadillac.

All the occupants of the cars were out and it appeared that no one was hurt. The driver of the caddy was an older man, who the counter ladies in the bakery said was Rush Limbaugh. The other lady said “which one?” and the first lady said, “the old man”. It was Rush’s grandfather who practiced law there until he was well over 100 years old.

I sure hope Rush has inherited his grandfather’s longevity.
