As for Sheldon, he was really asexual until he ended up with a wife. They did not push the fact he is gay.

He shouts it from the rooftop by just being who he is. Doesn't matter if they try to pass him off as normal. He's obviously a flaming fruit loop. Perhaps even worse is Modern Family, another really popular show in this new, totally screwed-up world we're living in today.
