Start dates miss a lot my FRiend.
I began posting on Prodigy in the late 90s. Jim & Michael Rivero were on the Whitewater board and I was on the Rush Limbaugh board. When I was booted off there I migrated to a few different usenet group alt.current-events boards and when Jim started tFR, I joined but rarely posted as my career kept me busy. So I suppose I can match you as a Founding Father, but being unpretentious I won't.
I did keep up with things and when the March for Justice happened I traveled on a bus from NJ with Doctor Raoul, I’m sure you remember him. Alamo-Girl’s delivered he Clinton Downside Legacy to Bob Barr and we were treated to a day of fun and entertainment. Perhaps you were there? And what about the purges? So many decent people simply disagreed with mainstream conservatism/Republicanism. I was one (thank god for Trump!) Remember the DITHF fiasco? The 2000 election, when FReeps at various intersections were all the rage? Fun days indeed.
Anyway, enough reminiscing. Back then this Q stuff you enjoy would have been run off the board and Jim is wise to contain it to a corner of the room. Like I said, you have a troll problem that serves you folks poorly, and who needs it with the hour so late?
Be well old timer :)
pssst...you mentioned it.
What a neat way of calling him pretentious. Yet you 'mention' it and you're not pretentious.
You're quite the piece of work, Prestone. Calling people trolls while you're the king of all trolls.
What time does the sun go down in your world?
Speaking of supporting Trump. He would be disappointed in you to hear that you do everything in your power to denigrate and weaken his Q program. So while you think you're supporting him, you really aren't.
I can see why you got kicked off the Rush Limbaugh board.
Sorry for the delay, the season, my age, etc. Yes, I was at the March for Justice - perhaps the first time the internet played a major role in American politics. Many well known names there.
Your intro page gives your start date as 2008; some confusion there. I actually predated my start date on FR; that is the date that registration started. You mention the Whitewater Bulletin Board, which is where JimRob started, so you know about the startup. Perhaps you changed your screen name in 2008.
I was absent a few years... I have no idea of what happened to Alamo-Girl. She was a treasure.
***Remember the DITHF fiasco?***
Apparently not; at least I do not know what the initials stand for.
***The 2000 election, when FReeps at various intersections were all the rage***
Florida and D.C. were perhaps the most active, as I remember. We were camped outside the Fla Supreme Court in Tallahassee, setting up resistance to the Goron attack. D.C. was set up outside the Naval Observatory shouting for Al Bore to get out of Dick Cheney's house. Seems like two ages ago.
***Back then this Q stuff you enjoy would have been run off the board and Jim is wise to contain it to a corner of the room***
I do not think anyone on the Q thread complains about being isolated; perhaps that is what has led to some assuming an 'us vs them' mentality. I will confess something that I have rarely mentioned. One attraction of the Q thread for me is that it closely resembles - in form - the original daily FR list; stories of major interest appear there. When there are no Q posts that characteristic is most prominent. There are usually 'pings' to prominent stories of the day, which eases my aging brain to keep up. I rarely go to the 'Latest Post' thread; it is a bit overwhelming.
The analytical approach there also attracts me - stirs up my epoxied brain. I basically give trolls a bye. There are those on the Q thread that waste bandwidth on all that... probably on most FR threads. I suppose someone has to do it. My time and energy are too valuable. If you wish to bicker you will have to pick someone else. I am already behind on FR... probably a sign of age. Good to share some old times with you, old memory engrams revitalized.
