How does that 55” monitor do when you’re doing real stuff. I have an older 32” HP monitor that is just above HD resolution + an old 27” Dell monitor. I use all of that real estate (circuit design + simulation + PCB layout on occasion + FPGA crap).

Do you find using a TV to be good/bad/indifferent when doing real work? A friend of mine uses a 42” Visio 4K TV, but it didn’t look all that great (could have been a low end video card driving it or bad settings ... Something seemed off, but he loves it).

I already know it’ll be great for gaming :-)

Okay, so to go into a bit more detail, it's the 55" curved Samsung, I got it at Wal-Mart. I had previously been using a 43" Vizio, and that was nice, but ... yeah. Gaming, it's like playing in IMAX. Luv it. For "working", it's a mixed bag. I find that if I'm doing 'normal' stuff like word processing, or etc., I just use the portion of the monitor in front of my face, as if it were only 27" or whatever. Placing stuff in the upper/far corners is awkward, and I only use them for shoving things off to the side for a moment, multiple panes, etc. The primary task is always front and center. For videos, I tend to watch them in a window, because that large a screen, that close is overwhelming. That, and most streaming quality stuff really looks better in more of a 1080 sized window. (I don't have super internet) The one thing, however is I do 3d modeling and 3d printing, and having my models full screen is wonderful. I'd post a screenshot here if I had one handy, but sadly I don't. Maybe later. Anyway, that's my story, and sorry if it isn't too cue related, but them's the slides. At least there's no avatars. Yet. :)
