Fox Business host Lou Dobbs aired a segment on Friday that amounted to a fact-checking refutation of claims that he and guests have made about an election tech company Smartmatic and its role in the 2020 presidential election, after the company threatened legal action.
Other similar segments will be shown on Justice with Judge Jeanine on Saturday and Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, a Fox News spokesperson said. Lisa Boothe will host Judge Jeanine, as Jeanine Pirro is off for the holidays
Earlier this week, Smartmatic announced that it had threatened legal action against Fox News, Newsmax and One America News Network “for publishing false and defamatory statements,” after talking heads on the outlets have pushed claims of election fraud, including unfounded conspiracy theories of rigged voting machine companies.

Does anyone have any doubt that communism has taken over what once was the United States of America??
This is indoctrination at it’s worst and MANY so called conservatives have CAVED without blinking.
God Help America. She is gasping her last.
Dobbs just missed a chance to get evidence. Called discovery. Should have let them sue
Lou Dobbs would not have been given the opportunity to get anything.
Corporate lawyers would have taken over and the first thing they would have done is tell him to sit down and shut up.
Corporate lawyers are like insurance lawyers....they settle out of court, usually paying half the claim, which the other side accepts because they are both getting $500 an hour just to talk to each other.
Unless he, and Fox News, knew they didn’t have any evidence that would stand up in court.
. Of course not. Soros usually puts a so-called non-profit between himself and the ultimate recipient of his money We need to end “non-profit” status.
Apparently Newsmax got the memo. Rob Schmitt just read a very legal disclaimer saying they do not agree with reporting or opinion relating to Dominion or Soros. They will never mention it again. The soros mafia in action. Just another act of censorship of what used to be a free press.
We’re screwed even if both GOP Senate seats in GA are won.
Flimsey Grahamnesty, Micro Rubio and friends are going to give the Democrats a permanent majority with amnesty for illegal aliens.
That was a 3-minute washing-hands segment (practically a commercial) for the benefit of Smartmatic. First, you claim it was aired simply to show Fox News is "fair and balanced." Then you claim it was aired because Fox News "faces a lawsuit." Which is it? If Fox News's reporting was accurate, it should have told Smartmatic's attorneys, Go pound sand. The fact that Fox News aired what amounts to a 3-minute commercial for Smartmatic indicates Fox News believes Smartmatic has a good case that Fox News didn't accurately report about the company in the first place.
Relax. I have watched Lou since 1985 when he was a TV investment program host and he loves his Country and would never give bad advice.... and he is not his own man at f0x nEwS.
It would be interesting to know if his statement refers to editorials only or does it mean that they will not report news and events related to the subject.I suspect the reference is to opinion editorials.
It was a clear disclaimer written by lawyers. It covered mostly the macines and Soros.
You guys do understand those anchors are under contract don’t you? FOX owns them.
Lawfare strikes again.
JoMa
That is not what I was asking.
If I say without adequate proof that xxx is a criminal, defending the statement in court has serious problems.
If I say that the federal government has announced that they are investigating xxx for criminal tax evasion, that is much easier to defend.
The first is opinion, the second is news.
So the question is: Is Newsmax going to cease discussion of opinion only or are they also going to cease reporting any news story related to this matter?
They put it on their website
Those anchors had a choice...and they chose $$$ and they chose poorly.
You are certainly entitled to your opinions. You can call it “fair and balanced” reporting if you wish but it appears more like “passing the buck” or “dodging the issue” to me. Go back and check the several reports that Lou Dobbs made about Smartmatic since the election because they directly contradict the information the guy was spouting at the tail end of the show. It appears (at least to me) that Lou got his tail caught in a crack and is now trying to play it down the middle, “There are lots of opinions out there about Smartmatic.” No kidding...there a lots of opinions about almost anything you can think of. If he had as much integrity as he professes, he would have called out this guy being interviewed...but he didn’t. Rather, he gave Smartmatic a headline that probably undermines the credibility of the Trump’s claims regarding Smartmatic;s role in stealing the election. Maybe he will address this very soon (I hope he does...I’d like to think differently about him), but if he ignores the issue or pulls his punches when he reports on it, we can rest assured that someone has pulled his leash. I’d hoped that he was made of better stuff. Propaganda? Whatever....
Dominion Whistleblower Accuses CEO of Lying During Michigan Hearing
https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3917182/posts
A Dominion Voting Systems whistleblower who says she witnessed irregularities at the TCF Center in Detroit on Election Day is accusing Dominion’s CEO of lying during the recent Michigan Senate hearing.
Poulos told legislators that most Dominion machines cannot connect to the Internet. Carone said, citing a recording she made during a training, that every tabulator in the TCF Center had a modem and was connected to the Internet.
“What they would do is they would go off the Internet and then reconnect, go off and reconnect,” she said.
Thanks for the classy response. So sweet.
Thanks.
I looked for that by going to their regular news site and did not see any reference to it.
OK, so reading the statement, there is no statement that says they will never mention it again.
Also a careful reading shows that the statement is Smartmatic’s statement, not Newsmax’s.
Newsmax does say that they have no evidence of.....whatever.
Well neither do I but that does not prevent me from believing whomever I choose to believe and I suspect Newsmax and Dodds feel the same way.
So everyone should just be cool. Lou Dobbs had absolutely nothing to do with this any more than he has to do with the arthritis pills or the stupid exercise machine that will show up as an ad on his time.
Smartmatic may not be Dominion, but there still appears to be a relationship between the two. Smartmatic used to own a company named Sequoia Voting Systems, which is now owned by Dominion. Evidently Smartmatic still owns the Sequoia intellection property, which establishes a link.
Smartmatic supposedly cut ties with Venezuela after their government announced results that were different than what Smartmatic’s systems indicated. However, it is curious Smartmatic did election projections in Venezuela from 2004 through 2017. Chavez ruled that country through 2013. Interesting Smartmatic was involved in that country through 2017 ... I think there is something more to learn here.
