If you’re a vintner, the letter you really don’t want to get from the folks who run the state tasting competition is “Your donkey has diabetes”.

I’ve been to several small home wineries. Some excellent wine in Oregon—I’ve tasted Pinot Noir out of a residential garage with two tiny steel tanks in the garage that stored the wine. You would never know from the street that in someone’s garage in suburban Oregon was wine the same quality as from Burgandy.

Think of all the yeasts and bacteria you can culture from sewage.

I was a wine snob until I moved to West Virginia and was humbled by a local dry and fruity elderberry wine.

We had a neighbor who distilled his corn liquor multiple times that it became very smooth. It didn't cause a headache either. His wife served it over ice in fresh peach juice that she had collected while canning. Best cocktail I have ever drank!

Whew. I’m sure glad that the cops have spare time for this rather than the pipeline of human trafficking and child sex slavery. Or the car theft gangs.

These wine makers forgot to pay their 10% vig to the local police chief.

I guess no danger of the bootleggers using their own stash.

That is what I was thinking. The guy probably lives in a tiny apartment or trailer and had no place to make his wine. He decided to do it at work which was a bad idea if he didn’t get their permission first.

He probably just has a boring job that involves a bunch of sitting around waiting and decided to do something useful in his downtime or before he went back home.

To make a big deal about this or write an article or arrest anyone over it is ridiculous. There is no chance this guy was making money off of this operation.

Actually Morgan Creek Vineyards in Harpersville, Alabama, has some pretty nice wines. Their vineyards remind me of Sonoma.

I think most of their wines are made from Muscadine grapes which are grapes with one of the highest (if not the highest) anti-oxidant and resveratrol concentration.
