Why make wine in Alabama? In Georgia, the only wine I know of being made locally was Muscatel.

In Alabama they make moonshine. One of my co-corkers described his operation in Opelika that helped fund his college education. He was rightfully proud of the finished product, but made me promise not to let his children know what he used to do.

North Georgia actually has a pretty big wine industry, and some of the wines are quite good. Depending on the variety, they get the grapes from CA or grow them in GA. Check out Dahlonega. Visiting the wineries around there makes a great trip.

As for Alabama, the only one I’ve heard of is the sewage plant...

Obviously you don’t know much about Georgia. There are several fine wineries in the North Georgia Mountains.
