The utter contempt for President Trump was the result of five years (including the 2016 primary season) of non-stop gaslighting by the MSM. It really started with the "pu$$y grabbing" audio leak. They also took Trump's New York style of hyperbole and purposely twisted it by taking it literally. Trump's tounge-in-cheek "Russia, if you're listening, if you have Hillary's emails..." became a straight-faced proof of Trump colluding with the Russians.

Trump's "I wonder if we could disinfect the bloodstream" became "inject bleach."

I could go on and on, but it makes my blood boil too much. I have argued with my liberal friends for four years on Facebook about each and every one of these issues, and they never look at the actual Trump quotes, they only regurgitate the CNN version of what happened, and take it as fact.

I will say this: Hatred for Trump is so strong on the Left that it literally impossible to change their minds. They hate Trump, they know he is "Orange Hitler" but can only cite twisted reporting to back it up, and they would have voted for Biden in droves just to vote against Trump.
