The number of US deaths in this time period is the highest ever, and reflects the large increase of cases that began around Dec. 2. Deaths lag behind new cases by 2-6 weeks.
On average, 1,796 people die from heart disease every day. Heart disease was our #1 killer before Covid-19 came along. Today, the number of Covid-1 deaths is almost twice as many as heart disease deaths.

Of course, Covid-19 is no worse than influenza, if you are comparing it to the H1N1 strain that swept the world between 1917 and 1919 and killed around 50 million people. But it’s orders of magnitude more deadly than any influenza strain since.
I disagree with your numbers. Nothing to do with Biden. Actually practicing I am seeing a tremendous shift in the virus, not nearly as deadly. I have elderly people with multiple medical issues who end up on the vent and coming off. It is no picnic by any means, but the government, is in fact, manipulating numbers and the testing is off the chain.

Testing is not excluding multiple repeat tests after the patient is no longer infectious but there are inactive viral particles coming from the LRI
While there are CoVID deaths no doubt, there are also growing numbers of cases where swabs are being done with no CoVID symptoms and people are dying of other causes but the mer presence of CoVID is erroneously counted

All that being said, I am frontline and being vaccinated tomorrow. I cannot wait. What we must now guard against in science is the misinformation being spread about the vaccine...
At 95% effective the notion that immunity means that you can pass along the disease is preposterous. With the advent of the vaccine and successful cohort vaccination and by definition herd immunity — all this lock down, mask mandate, trampling of individual freedoms must stop forthwith.
After I am vaccinated and have developing immunity at 7 days, I will no longer wear a mask, and I will no longer participate in the scare tactics meant to control humans. As humans we are meant to interact with one another and facial cues and recognition is an important part of this — in my judgment divided we fall. Masks divide us.
