A man died over the weekend after a window closed on him while attempting to burglarize a Florida home.
Jonathan Hernandez, 32, died Saturday while breaking into a Lehigh Acres home by climbing through the window, which slammed on him, according to a report by WBBH, an NBC affiliated station serving the Jacksonville.
Hernandez was dead by the time deputies arrived.
Hernandez’s family members were surprised by the news of his death saying that they had never known him to act in this manner.
Family and friends are hoping an investigation will get them answers to Hernandez’s strange behavior.

With 5 kids, I think his genes get the last laugh. No Darwin Award for this guy
Was he an aspiring rapper too?
“Very ordinary window and house? Freak accident.”
If the balance weights or springs are now functioning, these windows can be quite heavy.
I guess he died doing what he loved to do by the looks of him/it.
Thank you. I was going to post something like that, but you saved me the trouble. 👍
Our house was built in 1883 and we still have weighted sash windows with ropes on the weights. Let the next owner change them.
Those sash ropes can go bad very easily. Windows can be very heavy.
Story reminds me of the scene from “Ghost.” Tony Goldwyn gets the glass pane.
“His family should sue.”
Sue the window manufacturer.
And the glass supplier for the high-capacity glass.
Windows should have safety features.
We should have laws in place to mandate locked windows.
Perhaps even laws against unlawful entry through a window.
Gawd...it’s laborious to be so sarcastic.
Wasn’t she in the Addams Family Movie?
Hey, he’s had a tough 2020. Spent the money to get his lips pieced like that and then nobody can see what he did because he has to wear a mask all day.
True! But to die that way is still weird.
How many times did the window slam on him?
👍
Can you imagine the reaction of the homeowner?
“Honey!! There is yet ANOTHER burglar caught in the window. Will YOU PLEASE FIX THE DAMNED THING?”
