Yes, forced abortions for the second child if the authorities find out. Often families would relinquish the girl babies to orphanages or abandon them, for the chance to have a son, IIRC. Sons are/were considered more valuable because they are supposed to be responsible for the parents later in life. If you adopted from China, girls were available, boys rarely unless there was a health issue. (this is what I remember from the late 90’s - much may have changed since then)
can we believe Mrs McCommie about 5 sisters?...or is that just something she spiels about when she needs to hide assets...like, my “sisters” need some money. Money laundering comes to mind...
Girls aren’t really your family, they go off and become part of some other family, plus they’re expensive, you have to raise the bride price to get rid of them!
