He states the President can take extraordinary measures. Actually, the report and actions are taken by other departments.
Granted, POTUS could declare war?
Potus is going to need to decide whether he’s willing to risk his own life over this. It’s obvious that there is a plot to physically overthrow him, take him out, that has been worked on for a while. And that plan announced a warning many months ago about this when they floated that they’d spoken to the military.
You’d think that going to the military, asking brass about what they’ll do against the POTUS in various scenarios...you’d think that might be a seditious plot? But you heard of anyone arrested? No.... but we’ve heard that is exactly what they did leading up to the election.
Pro, I hear what you’re saying, but I also am curious like LJ... speaking over his skis? I don’t get the ...whatever you call it when you don’t get a saying...
Trump can invoke the Insurrection Act, and with complete legitimacy.
Lincoln never declared war on the South, because he had no Constitutional power to do so. Under the Constitution, the President has the authority to put down armed insurrection. The War Powers Act of 1807 requires him to use the state militia as a first resort, though.
Keep your eye on Lincoln.
