At some level they are at least Western in their outlook. I think that something more positive could have developed between the two countries except for the rantings of the American left.
Pete, I think it did develop. It just went underground.
To the extent necessary, they are complimenting their mutual interests in American First/Russia First, in nationalism, and both are red liners against the universal power of globalism.
They recognize China as a world threat.
