It’s not an irrational action for those dogs to kill the young. They are doing it to ensure that their DNA, and not some other dog’s DNA, is perpetuated to the next generation. A lion who takes over a pride will do the same thing to the children of the previous “alpha” lion.

If all the dogs partnered up and had their own litters, it wouldn’t matter, but in a pack breeding is limited based on rank. It might not be the best system, but it is a rational system.

Yes, and it’s worked out so well that they are nearly extinct.

I get the point he’s trying to prove but that is *not* the social structure of any of the types of African Wild Dogs.

It’s just not.
