I think anybody that goes on a cruise without all the vaccines is just being silly. With that mass of humanity you know SOMEBODY has SOMETHING. Plus you’re visiting ports of call. I remember when it was a standard part of shipping out of country in the military to get all your shots. I’d see any cruise as the same. There are no viruses that make good souvenirs.

Yet another reason to avoid those floating exposure concentrating gilded cages. That people actually pay to be trapped on a big boat for days at a time makes me shake by head. Sure, they are paroled out to various restricted areas. If you get too involved ashore, you get to pay extra. Yay.

Hard pass here.

I’m gonna see if I can catch one of the quail wandering around in the back yard and see it tests positive. Probably just the bird flu though. :-)

Since most modes of transportation, air, bus, train, will require a card I suspect cruise lines will as well. Which may well mean a delay in reopening. Though if still sailing at half capacity, it may not be a huge issue by spring. The cost of full capacity may well be a vaccination requirement by most countries. Likely including the US.

Could a cruise ship and a cruise ship company be required for taking a cruise?

How about PASSENGERS?

The cruise ship industry is DEAD!

Who in their right mind would take a cruise NOW!

I wouldn’t go if it were FREE! (been on six of them)

Don’t even need to read the article: Without liability protection no business is going to allow you to onboard a long distance conveyance without a test.

I would go on a cruise TODAY and would do so without taking a vaccine.

In fact, I don't want a vaccine. I've spend a good fifty days in Manhattan during this pandemic and haven't been sick once. Almost never wear a mask unless I enter a place of business that requires it - mainly because I don't want to create a hassle for the business owner who's only trying to make an honest living.

Maybe I had this virus already and didn't know it or maybe I'm just immune because I'm so healthy.

Right now there are temporary locations all along Sunset Blvd close to my house giving out vaccine. Long.long lines. it’s been like this for days.

I could post but don’t have an image host.. they are jammed with people night and day. I know they are requiring shots before flying....and there was massive numbers of Hispanics waiting that makes me think food service workers must get the vaccine.

I’m going to try to get the shots either at Cedars or Keck Hospitals.

>Tell the boss you’re a Muslim and can’t take the shot until after Rama-lama-ding-dong.

Yeah but every day other than that day is still technically after Rama-lama-ding-dong

I’m not buying this vaccine story. These often take years to develop. Damn near none are 90% plus effective. And for some things their simply isn’t a vaccine such as the common cold. So we are to believe that 2 companies working independently had the same breakthrough and developed a 90% effective vaccine - within a week of one another - after only 7 or 8 months?

Right.

Anyone notice there’s no patent related argument over which company was first? These are evil pharmaceutical companies only interested in money we’re constantly told.

This isn’t about health. It never was. With a “vaccine” available they can impose vaccine certification cards, health passports or whatever they decide to call them.

Your papers please.

Next might be a vaccine symbol sewed to your coat and then your vaccination number tattooed on your arm.

>>There are many of us who will not cruise if masks, social distancing, etc., are prerequisites. Vaccination appears to be the only alternative to those protocols.<<

Ironically, if this goes into effect cruises will be the only place where you can safely go to a buffet, shake someone’s hand, hug a new friend and do all the other personal human interactions we took for granted pre-2020.

I say ironically b/c we all remember cruises were the scariest places to be when the COVID hit.

Lighten up Frances. COVID vaccine requirements are no different than TB and other inoculations required to go to many 3rd world countries. If you do not want to do it just don’t go on cruises.

You are SO right!

My job (if I ever get back to it) required me to fly every week.

I bet one of the FIRST things they’ll do is require “proof of vaccination” papers to even board a plane. Of course, they’ll probably issue cards with your personal number and you won’t even be able to complete a booking without it.

They’re going all out on this. Bet the farm on it!

“With an industry hemorrhaging money, it would be unlikely many cruise lines will be able to sit still for another 8-9 months without building up huge debts.”

BUT... by all means, cruise lines should alienate the very people that are able to pull them out of their downward spiral...their customers.

The cruise ships weren’t nearly as ‘scary’ as the ‘click bait’ media made them out to be.

One social media site for cruising is hard over on keeping these protocols in place even after the vaccines. Lot’s of people who are prime targets for the virus want 100% guarantees of safety. I was placed on probation where I couldn’t post for seven weeks because I did not hew to that narrative.
