If America did the bare minimum of voting security that plenty of other civilized countries do we wouldn’t be in this mess. No need to get fancy. Voter ID (either a license or the city hall can provide a free photo ID for people) , no mail in ballots and paper ballots only.
Since both parties don’t want this I can only assume they both cheat.

I heard that some countries tally the total number of votes cast right after the polls closed, and discloses this total to the public immediately.

Any votes "discovered" after the polls closed -- tough toenails, they get tossed.
