That is another way to deal with it, but at least take a good serious shot cross their bows with this first.

Secession doesn't have to involve violence, civil war, or even "taking a shot across the blue states' bows". Just walk away. Red states are tired of the blue states and vice versa. A nation of 330 million people is simply too large to be governable. China and India only manage it through far more authoritarian rule than most Americans would be willing to tolerate.

Besides, isn’t it easier for Texas to do this because of the succession clause in their state constitution? They literally could do this perhaps paving the way for other states to succeed, even parts of states breaking away as in northern California and southern Oregon.

You misunderstand.

Its simple. A shot across the bow is getting state legislatures to file articles of secession. That is the shot across the bow.

Stand back and see how they swallow that and then go from there.

If the fume and spit and howl, then give them a list of demands that are basically unreasonable and when they dont agree, its done. They are on their own.

There will be violence or at least mass arrests ordered by the Feds anyways to force the states not to secede.
