Real-life ‘Toy Story’ played out at a NH Home Depot: Woody finds he way home, with a lot of help

A Home Depot in New Hampshire, on Tuesday, was the scene of a real-life “Toy Story.”

That’s “Toy Story” - as in the beloved critically acclaimed Pixar franchise, where after experiencing a series of heart-stopping adventures, lost “anthropomorphic toys” are reunited with their owners.

According to a report by WBZ-TV, the story began last week, when a Home Depot employee found a “Woody” doll that had been left on the parking lot pavement - but rather than tossing the toy, employees set out to find its owner.

Connor Ferguson, who works at the service desk of the Plaistow Home Depot, said, “It’s a lot like a Pixar movie in and of itself, just around the holidays, got to get Woody home for Christmas,” WBZ quoted.

“Honestly kind of heartbreaking because just thinking about some kid getting home and realizing that they’ve lost their toy, that’s kind of sad,” Ferguson continued.

Made public so please share!!! Can we please help Woody find his way home! This is the one who was found in the parking...

The report said a campaign was launched on social media by Home Depot employees, and by word-of-mouth, to find Woody’s owner.

In the meantime, the report said, the employees gave Woody a job. Donned in a small apron, usually reserved for the employee of the month, “Woody learned his way around the store.”

The report cited Ferguson who joked, “Everyone is having fun with it, he’s working in garden, in the paint section, he is a jack of all trades at this point. We haven’t discussed payment yet but we’ll get there,” the report quoted.

But according to a report by the Union Leader, Woody’s temp job at the Home Depot came to a happy end on Monday night, when the doll was reunited with his young owner, Desmond Mulhall of Hampstead.

“Mission accomplished,” said Ferguson, who had started “Woody’s Home Depot Adventures” Facebook page, the Union Leader report quoted.

According to the report, the puzzle started to come together when little Desmond’s dad, Jason Mulhall, heard about “social media photos of the doll from Disney’s hit computer-animated ‘Toy Story’ film series appearing to operate a radial arm saw, stir gallons of paint, sanitize with a spray bottle and type at a keyboard.”

The report cited Mulhall who said Woody was lost the weekend after Thanksgiving, ”on their weekly visit to the store for Dad’s home projects.”

Mulhall assumes the doll fell out when he was putting his son in his car seat, and it went unnoticed at the time. The report noted that Desmond, who turns two next month, apparently didn’t notice the missing Woody, either - maybe, his father said, because his son’s favorite character is actually Buzz Lightyear.

After several days, as the posts about the Home Depot Woody continued, it dawned on Mulhall and his wife that they hadn’t seen Desmond’s Woody in a while, the report said.

“I figured the house ate it or something like that,” Mulhall said, but they soon concluded that the Woody at Home Depot was likely Desmond’s, the report stated.

According to the Union Leader, a quick call to the store confirmed that it was indeed Desmond’s Woody - the confirming clue being that just like Desmond’s Woody, the one at Home Depot was hatless.

There was indeed a happy ending to the local toy story: Along with his reunion with Woody, Desmond took home a new Buzz Lightyear toy that had been donated by a customer, the report said.

No doubt the Home Depot employees will miss having Woody around, but, the report said, “they’re not sorry they had to cut his hours.”

“One good deed,” Ferguson said. “It’s good that we were able to help him out,” the report quoted.

When my oldest son was 4 or 5, he became enamored with Buzz Lightyear and space. He told my wife that he wanted to work at NASA building rockets.

Guess where he works as an Astronautical Engineer?

Neither do I. I think it and twit-turd are both horribly configured social media sites. Extremely unintuitive and badly configured. Far cry from FR, which couldn't be easier. Then again, look at the type of people who own and run both of those junk sites! Guess we shouldn't expect any better from such weird "progressive" jerks as them.

That little plastic guy would probably be about as helpful as many if not most Home Depot employees today, at least here in our New York City stores. Nothing like the old days when the guys working the floor really knew about doing home repairs and construction projects. Now it’s mostly young minority people who clearly have no aptitude or experience in this area.

Lol! Yeah, even here in NYC there are a rare few workers that really know their stuff and can offer good advice, etc. But most can barely direct you to the hardware department. (exaggerating a bit there)
