Decades to get from Jupiter to Neptune? And this is a “superhighway”? We can get from Earth to beyond Pluto in just a few years.
Ping.
I’m thinking about Mars in about a week?
So, specifically, how the enable faster travel between the planets?
Fastest we did it was about 11 years - and that’s just basic straight line to reach the orbit - reaching a specific planet gets more complex if one wants to start today and be where the planet is at a given time. Neptune take about 165 years to make an orbit.
We are falling, fast through space...Wheeeeeee!
Think of an old Tarzan movie with him swinging thru the jungle on vines......................
Yeah, but we don’t stop.
It takes as much propellant to stop the vehicle as it does to accelerate it.
So we’re going to need some sort of drive that allows constant, relatively high acceleration over longs periods to bring that number down. Say 1G for weeks, or even months and years...
I knew the Tranporter Room was real.
Just thinking about the math required to make those calculations makes my head hurt.
It may just be a holo-deck..................
“ Although that paper didn’t mention Lagrange points...”
A how how how.
ISWYDT..................ZZ........................
Same here - let’s me know I’m not in genius territory.
But we have some folks here who have simple, unsophisticated thoughts and believe they’re smarter than those who can actually do the math.
I’m in awe of what God has wrought and have some great respect for those who are able to scratch the surface of His creation even with barely legible marks.
You get your kicks on √6(T)6.
Don’t let the democrats get wind of the new “superhighway” or they’ll turn it into a toll road.
“It winds from Chicago to the Milky Way
More than 2000 light years along the way
Get your kicks...”
Many, many moons ago I moved from Ohio to Hollywood and drove quite a bit on Route 66.
One of my fav Nat King Cole songs...and I have a CDR copy burned direct from the studio master tape of “66” and many of his other hits.
UHmmmmmm, BullSH!T !!
