Burger King's new Mashed Up Fries is a dream combination of ice cream and fries

Fries dipped in ice cream. It sounds like a weird combination of flavours — hot fries and cold ice cream — but I know more than one person who does it. In fact, I had a childhood friend who would always insist on getting a small pack of fries alongside her ice cream cone or sundae.

Apparently, she's not alone — and as one colleague put it, most of us have probably tried it before. Well, you'll no longer have to order two separate items from the menu just to fuse them together.

Burger King has introduced a new menu item called "Mashed Up Fries", which essentially is an ice cream sundae with chocolate fudge loaded with fries. A curious name though, given the lack of mention in its name about the ice cream element.

Fries are added to the base of the sundae cup before it is filled with the usual soft-serve ice cream and chocolate fudge. Additional fries are garnished on top for good measure.

And since it's going at $2.90 per cup, there are definitely some savings there if you are looking to just get some fries to go alongside your ice cream sundae.

A netizen spotted the item at Burger King's IMM outlet and according to 8 Days, it's been available at all Burger King outlets since Dec 4 while stocks last.

I do have to say that Burger King soft serve is some of the best that can be found. Significantly tastier than DQ. I think I might have to try this.

I was a fan of fries dipped in a chocolate shake as a kid. Having the fries sitting and getting soggy in the ice cream doesn’t sound appealing.

It my ick mrtrr in the red zone. But if you didn’t know what it was it looks pretty in that sundae glass.

Burger King does have one thing I’m crazy about. Poppers. Cream/cheddar cheese balls with a chopped jalapeño and onions rolled in a batter and deep fried. Totally yummy. Search YouTube for Burger King jalapeño cheddar bites.

Burger King hamburgers are good but their fries, like those of Wendy’s and McDonald’s taste like crap. None use peanut oil (like Five Guys do and their fries are very good). After about 30 seconds, their fries taste like rotten potatoes.

None of them are even crisp.

Bring back the transfats which have now been proven to have no real harmful results when you eat at least fries cooked in them. That made the fries cook better inside and crispy on the outside.

Next it will be artificial meat, artificial salads, artificial chicken, and artificial taste, and I’ll be out of there in a second. Some of our local places cook the fries like you want them if you ask for it. That’s the American way.

“Transfats uber alles” with ketchup mein schatzie!

Fries are relatively high in oxalates, a plant poison that serves to protect potatoes from insects, worms, etc. and can lead to kidney damage in humans. But the antidote for oxalate is to eat calcium with the oxalate as they will bind together and be removed as waste from the body. And ice cream has calcium. So as crazy as this sounds, the Fries/Ice Cream is a health food.
