LA Restaurant Owner Rips Garcetti Hypocrisy: Why Shut Me Down While Allowing A Hollywood Canteen In My Parking Lot?
Hot Air ^ | 12/05/2020 | ED MORRISSEY

Earlier this week, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti banned outdoor service at restaurants in response to the COVID-19 transmission spike. That includes Pineapple Hill Grill and Saloon in Sherman Oaks, whose owner Angela Marsden sunk $80,000 into social-distanced outdoor dining infrastructure and had planned to reopen today. Marsden went to the store yesterday to collect a few items for a planned protest, but got a big surprise when she arrived at the parking lot adjacent to her dining patio.

(snip)

Only in Los Angeles could video and music production be deemed essential. Essential to what, exactly? Do they keep people physically alive and healthy? Aren’t there decades of previously recorded material available for people, even if one could make such an absurd argument? (snip)

Even at that, though, the “essential-ism” of the movie production is a non-sequitur. The production company is performing the exact same activity that Marsden does with her business — serving people food in those tents. (snip) If anything, the sheer size of the production canteen is a higher theoretical risk, especially since it appears that the pathways in and out will create higher density than with Marsden’s set-up.

Plus, even if those statements are correct, that assumes that the order from Los Angeles involves some standard Marsden hasn’t met. It doesn’t; LA is shutting down outdoor dining, period. Garcetti isn’t even allowing Marsden or other restaurant owners the opportunity to meet an objective set of standards applied to everyone. Instead, Garcetti is forcing her to close her business in providing outdoor dining without any opportunity to demonstrate safety. And while Garcetti shuts down Marsden, he’s rubbing her nose in his hypocrisy by allowing Hollywood to do what he’s prohibiting Marsden from doing.

It’s just in-your-face punishment of hard-working small business owners.

This is all about killing the Middle Class. A world of Lords and Peasants is within reach.

That was awful to watch. Broke my heart. She is just one among thousands.

But she was spot on: To put those tents there for movie crews right there was more than just a slap in the face.

It was an “In your face” slap in the face.

Let this sh*t keep happening, and there is going to be utter hell to pay for many many Leftists power-tripping, election stealing hypocrites.....not just from seriously pissed off DEMs but from 73+ million Trump supporters fed up with the sh*t, as well.

The Left is begging for a civil war.....

Be ashamed if a car drove through all the movie company tents. People need to rise up and fight back!

i wonder if the socialists just have a constant need for a certain minimum of victims, who they can then proceed to switch from being in private enterprise to being semi-permanently or permanently on the government teat.

This year the emergency is of course the bug, but next year it will probably switch to something else if for no other reason than people tend to get tired of hearing the same message over and over again, and need a new emergency and a new message to migrate ever more of them from capitalism to socialism and/or chip away more previously well guarded individual rights (eg such as the right to refuse vaccines).

Californians seem perplexed and dismayed over the decisions being made by their state government, while those who don’t even live there saw this coming a mile away. Now why is that?

Garcetti enjoys his new power. As soon as they get power they let their inner fascist shine through.

Apparently most Californians do, against their own best interests.

It’s astonishing that anyone except for the most gullible and deranged would vote Democrat.

This is what happens when we allow draconian big government to control our lives.

They get to pick the winners and losers and not competition.

This video is absolutely heartbreaking. This is tyranny. This is evil.

We must remember the words of our Founding Fathers:

“Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God.”

Not all Californians. Oh, I guess we’re dismayed but we’re not perplexed, and we’re certainly not surprised.

It is slow going. Mark Steyn hosted an intelligent authoress named Lionel Shriver, who displayed a keen understanding about a lot of the craziness going on today. She still voted for Biden.

People identify with a brand, and it takes a lot to peel people off of their brand. Trump has started the whole thing, but we must continue his work, ESPECIALLY repelling the Liberty Project types who have one foot out the door anyway, but would love to come where they are not wanted if given half a chance.

By allowing select eating places to stay open, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is wrongly establishing privileged / protected classes imo, which is expressly prohibited by the Constitution.
"Article I, Section 10, Clause 1: No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility [emphasis added]."

But at this time, Congress is too corrupt to enforce this prohibition of state establishment of elite classes imo.

Yes, and many don’t. Even so, we’ve seen enough evidence of the last month that voting non-democrat is virtually meaningless. This woman in question is a business owner. Probably not one who is a Hollywood mogul, or a leach off the system. Possibly one who simply can’t afford to move out of California at this time. You see, even if Republican were voted IN, she’s still have to deal with both county and state regulations - and they are democrats.

So would you still simply like to blame this woman for what she’s dealing with right now? Is this the attitude we want to show for anyone going through this?

Or, and before you fire back, there are plenty of republicans going through the same thing simply because of the jurisdictions they reside in - not because of how they voted.

Frankly, I figure all the ‘this-is-what-you-get-for-voting-democrat’ snark would be on the decrease after seeing all the vote fraud, but I guess not.

Look, let me get off this soapbox for now, accept to say that as of now, I am in a blue state due to one city being allowed to out vote the rest of the state. We have small businesses here and even some local government officials in outright rebellion against state officials. In the last month I have listened to both republicans and democrats livid over what is going on. None of them voted for this. IMHO, I think we should do a lot less ‘shaming’ of these people, and do more of having them join forces with us.

Right now, that woman and hundreds of thousands like her are begging for help from the 75+ million of us who are furious right now. Chances are she’s among the 75 mil.

Hey, look at that awesome iceberg dead ahead! Great time to start rearranging the deck chairs!

Now shutting up and going back into my cave.
