any thoughts?
i am thinking
* payoff mortgage immediately
* divest from all stocks, mutual funds, bonds 50% now, 25% next week if bad news continues
* move into precious metals now, 50% from cash in bank now, 25% next week if bad news continues
* pay off any mortgage (if overall finances allow, eg, if mortgage currently being used as income tax dodge)
* (current blue state residents) prepare for possibility of a need to leave home with very little advance notice, travel to nearest solid red state - have or buy a decent auto, preferably 4x4 truck. plan the route now, memorize it
(anyone considering going to mexico? canada?)
(i would love to be wrong about a need to do all of this.)
thoughts welcome
1. Trump wins rightully, and violence is worse than feared and unchecked, and doesn't get rolled up.
2. Biden completes the steal, then proceeds to quickly go back to the economy killing policies and stifling regulations done by the prior administration. That will slowly trickle down into major economic headwinds, but it will take some months. Once I see that happening, I will act slowly. Yet the Fed policy will remain, so there will be some money to be made from that alone. We will have to be very careful how to proceed with investing.
3. I have no idea where the safe havens will be if his policies take hold. If that happens, please share your thoughts on where to park to preserve capital.

i suppose that is in institutional holdings, not personal holdings.
i have no metals institutional holdings since i don’t trust my lack of experience and knowledge in mining.
i am wondering if i should move in the direction of cashing out my 401K now, taking the income tax hit. apparently i am beyond the age at which i have a penalty for withdrawal (the age of a penalty for withdrawal is apparently about 60yo, i have only recently learned— need to verify).

True dat! I’d venture to say 3/4 of my church membership is liberal (PCUSA). In a previous Sunday school class, abortion was brought up. One lefty woman went ballistic with her “women’s rights, my body, hands off!” krap. She died recently...so I guess she now knows whether God approves of baby murder...or not. I’m gonna believe that the woman never got past St Peter at the Golden Gate.

You should have been buying PMs when the spot prices were attractive. For instance, in April the spot price of silver was around $12 per troy ounce; it is double that today.
Exactly my situation. A very nice woman who is concerned about church safety (on my safety team) is a democrat! Couldn’t believe it! But knew it was a possibility. How can a Christian accept abortion as OK!?

Depending on the SHTF. In a Venezuelan or Bosnia SHTF Yes. In a global then I don’t think so. If I have excess food, say rice, would I trade that for gold or meat or medical ....
I have no clue. I look at it from a micro perspective and I would not trade food, bullets, weapons or antibiotics for gold or silver if I don’t know how long I will need those items.

But I’m also a student of history, and have read history my entire life, and my university degree is in History. And I know that — to paraphrase Mark Twain — while history may not repeat, it sure as hell rhymes. And, while your caution is commendable, things may pre-empt your timeline, and those who wish you ill may come after you before you have exhausted your sequential remedies. Just sayin”.
