Dealers probably remember the Cadillac diesel engine fiasco years ago .... probably don’t want to get screwed again.
one of my friends here in L.A, owns a used car dealership. Tells me Escalades SELLS easy even the old version circa 2006 with 200,000 miles. But NOT the newer models. He’s rather sell Land / Range Rovers and it’s ALWAYS in demand and hard to get.
Was that the stupid 4/6/8 engine that turned off cylinders to save fuel?
My Mom had a diesel Cadillac Seville. Beautiful looking car, but if you floored it, it billowed out a black cloud of exhaust behind it like a WWII destroyer taking evasive action. That did work well to discourage tailgaters, however.
Or the V4-6-8 or the downsized front wheel drive Cadillacs of the 1980’s...
When Cadillac did customer clinics and dealer clinics, everyone hated the fwd cars.
But Gm went ahead anyway because their “experts” told them, and “everyone knew” that that oil prices would soar in the future and only small fwd cars would sell.
So they introduced those cars in 1985-86 when oil prices were under $10 per barrel.
Brilliant !
