Several members of the Pentagon's Defense Business Board, including the chair and vice chair, were fired on Friday, marking the latest effort by the Trump administration to clean out the Defense Department in the final weeks of the president's term, according to three former board members.
Members of the board received a brief email from Joshua Whitehouse, the White House liaison to the Department of Defense, that simply said, “if you are receiving this e-mail, your membership on the Defense Business Board has expired or is coming to an end.”
The three board members who spoke to POLITICO said their tours were not close to ending.
"A number of board members have been terminated with a form letter. In my experience, I was very surprised that the White House would, at the eleventh hour, adjust an advisory board that for 19 years has had a record of nonpartisan support with the department," Michael Bayer, who until today was board chair, told POLITICO.
"This kind of a move really will weigh heavily on people on the future and their willingness to serve on these outside advisory boards if they're going to be subjected to political loyalty tests. It's unprecedented. I'm just saddened," he added.
The firings came as a shock to the board members, who had not received any negative feedback or warning prior to their termination. One former board member lamented the move, noting that the board “has never been political, ever.”

Purge?
Oh come on.
The rhetoric from the left is beyond disgusting.
“has never been political, ever.”
Gimme a break buddy....
This should have been done at all levels starting with the JCS in 2017.
April 29, 2015 WASHINGTON — The new head of the Pentagon’s Defense Business Board is an old face.
Michael Bayer, who served as chairman of the Board [under Clinton] from 2007-2011, will return as chair when the group reconvenes in July, the Pentagon announced Wednesday evening. Bayer, the president and CEO of Dumbarton Strategies, is a current member of the Defense Science Board and the Chief of Naval Operations Executive Panel.
In a statement, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter praised Bayer’s agreement to return to the DBB. “We need Michael’s energy and expertise to bring the very best private sector ideas and actionable solutions to the department,” Carter said.

It’s a good start.
Is Trump clearing out more known traitors for the next step in his plan?
“Is something afoot, or is Trump a vindictive loser?”
Jez, man, calm down. Are you always this cantankerous?
Here is some negative feedback for you. You don't appreciate a good dry martini and are a failure at cocktail hour. Since as a swamp panel queen you had no serious duties, your negatives far outweigy your positives.
Is Trump clearing out more known traitors for the next step in his plan?

I believe so. Once he gathered enough information to know that an overwhelming majority of voters support him - it seems like it’s gloves off, cleaning house for the next phase.
