We have no idea what kind of disruption might be headed our way.
Is it possible to share shortwave websites here or would that just point disrupters to locations to "take down."
A FReeper recently posted wishing to line up short-wave radio resources ahead of time.
FReepers/radioheads - can you offer advice, links? :)
In a grid down situation U.S. Mail will not be delivered as all sorting machines, etc., will be down.
And expect mail that does get through to have been scanned/read by the government.
That FT DX 3000's a nice rig and a great price point.
I'm still old school. Still love my trusty old Kenwood 940SAT which I connect to the computer for DSP then output to a soundcard interface, and my trusty Alpha 9500.
Also love my old Yaesu FT-101DX that I rebuilt/refurbished about 8 years ago now. Works great, sounds great, lots of compliments on the audio quality when I put it on the air.
I wish the bands would open back up. Been dead here in the midwest (Chicagoland area) and when it does open up it's very brief.
I kept an old short wave receiver in 2016 fearing I might only be able to get uncensored news from beyond the Hillary curtain. I still have it in case conservative voices are censored by the Biden administration. I hope that old technology is ready off shore when big tech closes the Internet and all news is censored

Did I not say I was an old fart?
The world of shortwave awaits those who switch on the radio and turn the tuning knob.
Turn to 10000 and you have a worldwide clock.
When chicoms unleash the takeover on Taiwan, hell will unfold. I can see some EMPs in our sky and internet attacks designed to wreck havoc in all current communication paths.
Outside of Korea, the Chicoms have never been engaged in any major-time-length war with anybody.
So, they say they have fighters and bombers and such, but not since Korea, have they been pitted against the rest of the world..so they don’t really know.
EMP is extremely short lived. It will probably disrupt most radio communications but only for a few minutes at most.
Well, it depends.
Hams operate on shortwave frequencies. But, many countries still operate shortwave public radio systems. There are also independent broadcasters.
Hams cannot run a “radio show” per se.
If there are EMPs, most radios aren’t gonna be working. What will you listen on?
I am a ham. I work in emergency management as well. There are regional groups that will be operating during such a time. That is the purpose of the annual summer and winter field days.
And RACES. Each community of any size should have a group affiliated with the Emergency Management system for your state.
Several years ago we were activated to communicate between hospitals during a weather emergency that cut off parts of our region.
Fun stuff.
What you are talking about is developing a net.
Pick a time and frequency. Put out a call for folks. See who shows up.
All this back and forth is much more complicated Han it needs to be. LOL.
I read on Reddit that this last weekend was great on 20m. I have to put my dipole back up.
The sun will come back. Then life will be good.
Welll...there was that whole Genghis Khan thing....
(You did not put a time constraint on.)

Ive been a member of ARES for years.
No, I wasn’t talking about a net.
I was talking about times and freqs.
If you are looking for people to gather at a specific time on a specific frequency...that is a net.
What I thought they were talking about is Freepers doing a “broadcast.”
That is specifically prohibited by the FCC.
