ya. i hope all of the big cheeses already have that possibility in the forefront of their security teams’ thinking, and that china realizes that and won’t try anything foolish.
You’re not going to prevent one side or the other from protesting.....they’re going to do what they do.
ya, sure, ok, but what if the thief steals the election by driving a mack truck through the election loopholes (WI-MI-MN-NV-VA-AZ etc), and takes a shortcut through the mail in voting and delayed receiving that somehow gets allowed at the state level (PA, GA)? and then hides in plain sight claiming he did not cheat and somehow the lesser courts delay and legislatures are cowardly to act? that seems to be the current direction if nothing changes in the next couple of weeks.
sure, though if the feelings are strong enough, at some point riots devolve into insurrection which devolves into civil war.
Uhh, no.
Trump won the election.
He is the next President.
The Democrats pulled every trick in their extensive repertoire to get rid of him with the help of the most unsavory characters in the world at present.
If some people feel that is justification for resort to arms and we decide to capitulate on that basis, we TRULY have no longer ANY connection to our forebears abd have lost any right to exist as a free people.
Craven, idiotic idea.
Oh I think it can be managed before it reaches that.
.....”if nothing changes in the next couple of weeks”....
Well that is key isn’t it...there still are in fact weeks until Jan.20th at noon.
So let me get this straight:
You want Trump to yield to Pence (giving the Democrats what they want).
And have Joe Biden yield to Harris (giving the Democrats what they want).
You, sir, are a terrible negotiator. :-)
true...
Good luck with that:
Amendment proposals may be adopted and sent to the states for ratification by either:
* A two-thirds (supermajority) vote of members present—if a quorum exists—in both the Senate and the House of Representatives of the United States Congress; or
* A majority vote of state delegations at a national convention called by Congress at the request of the legislatures of at least two-thirds (at present 34) of the states. (This method has never been used.)To become an operative part of the Constitution, an amendment, whether proposed by Congress or a national constitutional convention, must be ratified by either:
* The legislatures of three-fourths (at present 38) of the states; or
* State ratifying conventions in three-fourths (at present 38) of the states.A proposed amendment becomes an official Article of the Constitution immediately once it is ratified by three-fourths of the States.
hah, hah... hmmm...
part of my thinking is that trump is part pacifist. he would seek almost any peaceful way to avoid armed conflict. this would include stepping aside for pence presuming he can assure himself that pence is honest and trustworthy (the notion would not be viable for trump otherwise, and it would need to be viable to trump to proceed).
(hey, he hasn’t even started a war yet!)
i would imagine pence would almost certainly defeat harris in a fair election. trump could come back in 2024 once the election process is cleaned up and presuming pence agrees to the major outlines of the deal (4 years max for pence if he wins, then presumably would step aside after that allowing a 2024 trump campaign, probably as part of the package deal).
ya, everyone would need to doubletime it. however, if the alternative is insurrection or worse, perhaps everyone would be motivated to hustle.
the immediate issue is whether we all agree that we all have a very big election problem or not. it’s the first stage of the healing process. if the democrats refuse to agree that we have a very big election problem (something which to me defies logic and reason), then we can try to persuade them with more fervor. ultimately if the democrats insist that the election was fair, in denial of all the evidence to the contrary (affidavits, whatever), then we can console ourselves that we tried our best to avoid whatever comes next.
“Harris is not eligible.”
Nonsense. As despicable a creature as she is, she meets the Constitutional requirements. You’ve just been listening to that idiot making crap up and posting it here relentlessly. The claim is based in wishes, not law or the Constitution.
But, who would be president in the meantime? Would they really allow Trump to stay in office until the states ratify it? It could take years.
Your “solution” is absurd. First of all, why should Biden give up an election he stole “fair and square?” Second, there are still Constitutional remedies that have not been bypassed or defeated. Third, it still results in a Civil War. Fourth, what’s to stop them from cheating again and again until they get their way?
You are OK.
does the democratic leadership have the informed consent of the democratic voting public to cheat on their behalf?
i think that is the issue that rudy and trump might be at this point trying to place in front of the democratic voting public.
out of 100 people, how many people are honest?
is the ratio different for republicans and democrats?
if it is not different, and greater than say 50%, then how many people would be ok with passively allowing someone to cheat on their behalf, only requiring their silent non-objection?
all the changes would need to be made in weeks or a small number of months. in the not too distant past, the president was sworn in iirc on march 4. so, for example, if there were an amendment, the inauguration could be made march 4 (eg temporarily, a one shot to get us past the immediate crisis). that would give us about 6 more weeks than we currently have to sort out the current mess.
Parents citizenship dates? . Thank you.
“If some people feel that is justification for resort to arms and we decide to capitulate on that basis, we TRULY have no longer ANY connection to our forebears abd have lost any right to exist as a free people.”
So if the Ds try to push it through and the courts allow them to do so, you are opposed to taking up arms to defend the Republic and the Constitution?
