I’m over 60. And I’ll tell you how stupid I am. All of my older relatives spoke Hungarian. I learned a lot of the language as a child. And since then I’ve keep up with it.
Now, what part will the Hungarians play in shaping tomorrow’s world? It’s very little. Better that I should have jettisoned Hungarian, and learned Mandarin.
(Please don’t tell any of my Hungarian relatives I said that. They’d probably stop making chimney cakes for me.)
