5,6,7,8,9 and 10 are just as likely as any other numbers to come up. Still funny though../

That said, decades ago, I worked for HP, and we were involved with the first lottery in Delaware. Our involvement was that we provided the hardware for the lottery. It was a special HP 2100 computer and optical card readers for tabulating the lottery tickets. The winning number was determined by a specific horse race at Dover Downs Race track (horses) the night of the drawing.

For weeks before the drawing, big billboards were put up all over Delaware showing people how to fill out the marked cards (tickets).

It just so happened that the number on the instructional billboards happened to be a big WINNER. You can guess the rest of this disaster... Many many people won, and the next drawing few people bought tickets because the Big payout was so small (divide a big jackpot by thousands of winners).

That was the last drawing BTW.

As the article mentions, many people play obvious combinations, like straight sequences, or 2,4,6,8,10, etc.

So many persons winning on 5,6,7,8,9,10 isn't that strange.

“An unusual sequence “
No more unusual than any other sequence. Same for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

The organizers say the sequence is often picked.

The chances of winning South Africa’s PowerBall lottery are one in 42,375,200

I don’t see a problem here. Maybe they should be put in charge of elections

I remember back in the 70s, in Pennsylvania (of all places), the daily lotto came up 666. It was investigated and found out officials put a little mercury in the other balls to fix the outcome. State made mucho $$$ since it was the lowest chosen set. They were to make a movie but I don’t believe they did.
